Libraries Celebrate NZ Music Month

NZ Music Month LogoMay is NZ Music Month, where Kiwis celebrate all that’s great about NZ music. Libraries up and down NZ are getting involved.

Auckland Libraries have a city-wide programme. Their line up features workshops, performances and other events as well as huge selection of CDs, DVDs, sheet music and online resources.

Upper Hutt Library is celebrating NZ Music Month with performances and interactive events. These include the Upper Hutt Country Music Club, Body Beats (An interactive session where you create group percussion), plus the Upper Hutt’s own Ukulele Group and a performance from Upper Hutt College.

Wellington Library has updated their popular music blog to reflect NZ Music Month. The blog features recommendations, news and info on artists. The blog is a resource for finding out more about Wellington’s vibrant music scene.

Not to be outdone is Christchurch Library who are showcasing their extensive music resources. This includes CDs cassettes, LPs and DVDs, music magazines, sheet music and online resources.

Dunedin (home to many great NZ bands) has a huge number of gigs lined up at their libraries. These range from Capella through to the iconic Chills.
