Soon Irish library members will be able to access any of Ireland’s public library collections using a single Library membership card.
According to the Journal, Irelands Minister for local Government, Alan Kelly, has announced that a single library management system is to be implemented across all public libraries in Ireland.
The move will allow Irish library users to access the collections, digital resources and content in all libraries throughout Ireland.
The moves will also see universal membership for all children and a virtual library. According to Kelly the move will see greater sharing of library resources and “more discerning purchasing”.
